Feelin' froggy? Go on and fix it yourself.
Tell us what's broke (or snap a photo). FroggyDIY tells you the tools, the time, what it'll run you to do it yourself vs. hiring it out, and who to call when it's more than you want to wrestle.
Here's what you get for each fix:
Water under the kitchen window High Window leak
What's going on: The caulk around the outside of the window has cracked, so rain gets in and runs under the sill. Scrape out the old caulk and run a fresh bead of exterior silicone.
How to fix it (6 steps)
- Wait for a dry day; caulk won't stick to a wet frame.
- Cut and scrape out the old caulk with a utility knife and putty knife.
- Wipe the seam clean and let it dry.
- Tape both sides of the seam with painter's tape.
- Run a steady bead of exterior silicone along the seam and smooth it with a wet finger.
- Pull the tape while the caulk is wet and let it cure for 24 hours before rain.
